In this crazy world, we are giving away information about ourselves online all the time. I heard that younger people don’t think anything of it, because they think it’s “always been that way.” Maybe they don’t care about their privacy, but they should. We all should.
One place that cares about your privacy is your public library.
And yet, law enforcement has been known to regularly challenge libraries to give them private information without obtaining the necessary court order. Here’s one recent example. Really? They “couldn’t take him to a treatment facility” because of his “unwillingness to give his name”? And in all the time the officers were “tied up” (“about two hours”) they couldn’t have gotten the required court order?
