Lifelong Learners

educationAccording to an April report from the Pew Research Center: “Most Americans believe libraries do a decent job of serving the education and learning needs of their communities and their own families.”Wonderful news! For libraries, and for the many Americans they help with their learning and enrichment needs.

Unfortunately, the same report found that many Americans don’t know that libraries offer learning-related programs and materials. So there is much work to be done, both in terms of offering learning opportunities, resources, services, and programs, but also in letting our users know about them.

There are many of us who consider ourselves lifelong learners, and there is much libraries of all types have to offer us. We shouldn’t have to go looking. Our libraries should let us know.
