As you know, I love this time of year.
My husband and I went for a drive to look at “the fall color” last week. We knew the leaves weren’t at full color yet but wanted to go on a day close to my birthday, and a day that wasn’t raining. Here are two of the best shots:
See, they’re pretty, but not as vibrant colors as some other years at this same time. Maybe they’re just turning later this year. Or maybe, the fall colors are just getting less vibrant. True librarian soul that I am, I wanted to know more, and found these two articles about why leaves change color, and why the colors may be duller:
- Why do Leaves Change Color in Autumn? (from Science Made Simple)
- Why Autumn Leaves May be Dulled by Climate Change (from Live Science)
Admittedly, not a comprehensive search, but informative just the same. Anybody featuring fall color tours, books, photos, info in their libraries this month? Enjoy!
